The translational diffusion coefficients of rubrene and tetracene in amorphous polyisobutylene (PIB) were measured using the holographic fluorescence recovery after photobleaching technique. Over the temperature range from 400 to 235 K (T
g
=205 K), tracer diffusion coefficients from 10–7 to 10–14 cm2/s were observed. These diffusion coefficients have essentially the same temperature dependence as the rotational correlation times for these two probes in PIB. Both of these observables have a slightly stronger temperature dependence than does the viscosity. These results contrast strongly with the results of similar experiments on polystyrene and polysulfone. These results are consistent with the hypothesis that local segmental dynamics are more spatially homogeneous in PIB than in polystyrene and polysulfone.Dedicated to Prof. John D. This paper proposes that the theory of local rules provides a model for explaining organizational behavior as an emergent property of a fitness landscape. While local rule theory has its genesis in evolutionary biology, this paper links it to work in computational mathematical organizational theory. It further proposes that there are conditions, characterized by coadaptation, under which rules will survive in relatively stable forms, and other conditions, characterized by competition, under which local rules will change. The paper then discusses how catastrophe analysis can provide insights into changing patterns of organizational interactions. A discussion of methodology outline shows developments in agent-based simulation modeling can contribute to the development of local rule theory. 相似文献

The validity of the local thermal equilibrium assumption in the transient forced convection channel flow is investigated analytically. Closed form expressions are presented for the temperatures of the fluid and solid domains and for the criterion which insures the validity of the local thermal equilibrium assumption. The problem of the behavior of an elastic floating plate in the form of a strip under the action of a periodic surface load is solved using the Wiener-Hopf technique. The shortwave approximation is found in explicit form. The effect of the frequency and nature of the acting load on the vibration amplitudes of the fluid and the plate is investigated numerically. It is found that for certain loads no waves propagate in the fluid and the vibrations of the plate are localized in the neighborhood of the acting load. The purpose of this study is to highlight and explain the vigorous energy transfers that may take place in a linear oscillator
weakly coupled to an essentially nonlinear attachment, termed a nonlinear energy sink. Although these energy exchanges are
encountered during the transient dynamics of the damped system, it is shown that the dynamics can be interpreted mainly in
terms of the periodic orbits of the underlying Hamiltonian system. To this end, a frequency-energy plot gathering the periodic
orbits of the system is constructed which demonstrates that, thanks to a 1:1 resonance capture, energy can be irreversibly
and almost completely transferred from the linear oscillator to the nonlinear attachment. Furthermore, it is observed that
this nonlinear energy pumping is triggered by the excitation of transient bridging orbits compatible with the nonlinear attachment being initially at rest, a common feature in most practical applications. A parametric
study of the energy exchanges is also performed to understand the influence of the parameters of the nonlinear energy sink.
Finally, the results of experimental measurements supporting the theoretical developments are discussed.
